Everyday life & relationships
Therapy for relationships, dating & boundaries
A space to make sense of the relationships in your life—and how you want to show up within them.
Relationships are worth talking about
A friend stops making plans. Dating starts to feel like another job. A family member wants more access to your time than you can offer. Nothing has to look dramatic from the outside for it to matter to you.
Individual relationship therapy offers space to explore your own feelings, expectations, decisions, and patterns. You can talk about a friendship, romantic relationship, sibling dynamic, or family relationship without needing the other person to attend.
What you might want to understand
Friendship & belonging
How to respond when closeness changes, ask for connection, or decide what level of contact feels sustainable.
Boundaries & self-trust
How to express a limit without turning it into a debate, and make choices that reflect your needs and values.
Dating & expectations
How to make room for curiosity and connection while noticing your capacity and preferences.
Family & independence
How to think about privacy, responsibility, loyalty, and adulthood in the context of your own family.
A thoughtful approach to your situation
Dr. Tina Halabian offers conversation, reflection, and practical support shaped around what you want to work on. You might look closely at one exchange, notice what you assumed, clarify what you wanted to ask for, or consider which parts of a situation are within your control.
The purpose is not to label someone who is not in the room or prescribe a single decision about your relationship. It is to help you understand your experience, consider your options, and find language for what matters to you.
Individual, couples, or family therapy?
Individual therapy focuses on your experience and choices. Couples therapy gives partners a shared space to work on their relationship. Family therapy may involve selected family members around agreed concerns. You can discuss which format makes sense before scheduling; you do not need to decide alone.
Therapy is available in English and Farsi, primarily through telehealth in California and New York. Language, cultural expectations, and the meaning of family can be part of the conversation without assumptions about what they mean for you.
Questions people ask
Can I talk about a friendship rather than a romantic relationship?
Yes. Friendships, sibling relationships, dating, family dynamics, and everyday communication can all be meaningful topics for therapy.
Will therapy tell me whether to stay or leave?
Therapy can help you consider your needs, options, and safety. It does not promise to make personal decisions for you.
Do I need my partner’s participation?
You can inquire about individual therapy on your own. If you are seeking joint work, see the couples therapy page and discuss participation during consultation.
