Virtual Support Groups

Forming now · Teens, Young Adults & Adults · California & New York

You do not have to work through everything on your own. These virtual groups offer a place to connect with others, reflect on shared challenges, and practice skills for everyday life. Each group is led by Dr. Tina Halabian.

Planned format: Weekly 60-minute sessions, ongoing, in a small group. Groups meet virtually, and in-person options in Los Angeles may be offered if there is enough interest, so let us know your preference. Meeting times will be confirmed before enrollment, and fees are discussed during your consultation. A brief screening conversation helps us explore whether a group is a good fit for you.

OCD & ERP Skills Groups (Virtual)

For teens, young adults, and adults living with OCD, intrusive thoughts, or related anxiety. Each group meets separately by age so the skills and conversation fit where you are in life. Sessions combine Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) skills, psychoeducation, structured practice between sessions, and support from peers who understand.

Teens (13–17): Parent or guardian consent is required, and a brief parent orientation is included before the group begins.

Young Adults (18–25): For those navigating OCD and anxiety alongside school, early careers, and relationships.

Adults (26+): For adults who want structured ERP skills and ongoing peer support.

For teens and adults who feel overwhelmed by worry, overthinking, perfectionism, or everyday stress. Together, we will explore anxious thought patterns, self-compassion, and practical ways to respond to stress through discussion and CBT-informed exercises.

Teens (13–17): A separate teen group for anxiety and overthinking. Parent or guardian consent is required, and a brief parent orientation is included before the group begins.

Why a support group can help

Hearing from people with similar experiences can help you feel less alone. A group can offer encouragement, fresh perspectives, and ideas for coping with everyday challenges. Alongside shared conversation, these groups will offer opportunities to practice skills and reflect on what feels useful in your own life.

Everyone's experience is different. During the screening conversation, we will discuss your needs and whether a group, individual therapy, or a combination may be appropriate. Read more about support groups from Mayo Clinic.

Frequently asked questions

Who can join?
Teens ages 13–17 (with parent or guardian consent), young adults, and adults who will be physically located in California or New York during sessions. Teen, young adult, and adult groups meet separately. Participation begins after a brief screening conversation with Dr. Halabian.

How long are sessions, and how long does a group run?
Sessions are 60 minutes, once a week. Groups are ongoing rather than a fixed series, so you can stay as long as the group is useful to you. Meeting times will be shared before enrollment.

Can I join a group that has already started?
Yes. Because the groups are ongoing, new members can join after a screening conversation whenever a spot is available. Members are asked to attend consistently rather than drop in, since the group works best when the same people show up each week.

Are the groups online or in person?
Groups meet virtually, which allows participants from anywhere in California or New York. If there is enough interest, an in-person option may be offered in Los Angeles. Let us know your preference when you join the interest list.

My teen is interested. What should parents know?
Parent or guardian consent is required for participants under 18, and a brief parent orientation is included before the group begins. During screening, we will review what is shared with parents, the limits of confidentiality, and how to support your teen’s practice between sessions.

When do the groups start?
Start dates and meeting times have not been set. You can join the interest list now and share your availability. Joining the list does not reserve a confirmed place or commit you to enrolling.

How much does a group cost?
Fees and cancellation policies will be provided before enrollment, so you can decide whether the group works for you.

What happens during a session?
Sessions will include guided conversation, reflection, and practical skills related to the group's theme. There will be opportunities to share, listen, and learn from one another.

What if I feel nervous about talking in a group?
You do not need to arrive with a polished story or share everything at once. We can talk through your concerns and participation expectations during the screening conversation.

Are the groups private?
Participants will be asked to protect one another's privacy, join from a private space, and avoid recording or taking screenshots. Confidentiality expectations and their limits will be reviewed before participation. Confidentiality among participants cannot be guaranteed.

Can I join if I already have an individual therapist?
A group may complement individual therapy. We will discuss your current support and whether the group fits your needs during screening.

How do I attend online?
You will need a reliable internet connection, a device with video and audio, and a private place to participate. Joining instructions and group guidelines will be shared before the first session.
